[Wedding Planning 101] | The Evolution of Weddings - What to Expect?
In the past few weeks, our world has experienced a pandemic like no other, which in turn has changed our way of life. The whole “social distancing” aspect is still pretty surreal, slowly becoming the new normal. Only issue, we don’t want this to become the new normal, or do we?
I, for one, miss the hugs, the kiss on each cheek as I greet my loved ones and being surrounded by great friends. I have high hopes this pandemic will subside within the next few months, but what will remain are the lessons learned.
No longer will we take the simple things in life for granted. Hugs will have more meaning, get togethers will last a bit longer, being disconnected from interraction because of mobile devices glued to our hands will subside.
Speaking of get togethers — we are already seeing a change in dynamic of weddings:
Destination: Now, moreso than ever, couples are forgoing the local weddings and embracing destination weddings. With travel bans currently in place and staying home, couples are wanting a beautiful escape to celebrate their love! [Shameless plug here: We are destination wedding planners!]
Intimate: Couples are embracing smaller, more intimate weddings. Family and friends has now become a priority, allowing couples to spend more quality time. Despite scaling down the guest list, couples will still want all the grand and luxurious moments normally seen in large scale events. The motto: Quality over quantity.
Progressive: In an everchanging world, the idea of formal seating at weddings will be traded out for more interactive food stations. An event can still be lavish and luxurious, so creative menus will come into play. Couples want to spend more time with their nearest and dearest, less time sitting at a table until dinner is completed. In addition, timelines will go out the window! Less structure, more spontaneity!
I am a strong believer of making the best out of the most difficult situations.
When life hands you lemons, time to make some freaking amazing limoncello!
Not going to lie, I am pretty excited to see how weddings will evolve!
How will you embrace the new evolution of weddings? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
